LFW Belle Sauvage AW/11, London
This season, Belle Sauvage’s signature digital prints were inspired by artists such as Frank Stella and Jeff Koons. The prints were very striking and it looked as if it was 3D zooming out from the dresses like a kaleidoscope. the subtle structured shoulders were perfect with the prints. Shoes were strong and vicious with spikes, chains and fur. Very eye catching.

Momocreatura, London
We visited the jewelry designer Momo’s studio in east London. She shares a studio with other fellow desginers. Momo is from Kyoto, Japan, she has been in the industry for over 10 years. The first time I came across her creation was in a little shop called beyond the vally just off carnaby street, it was love at first sight! The little animal charms on necklaces and brooches are very cute indeed but there’s a twist to it. They have a nail stabbed through their body or have a hole in the heart with dripping blood or my personal favorite was the animals with their head in the noose. Momo explains that she grew tired of ‘normal’ beautiful jewelry and started questioning ‘what is beautiful anyway?’ and began creating these slightly disturbing animal jewelry. Her inspiration comes from Fantasy and fairy tales. she sketches out her ideas just like a fairy tale and picks the character out from it and goes on to do a very detailed research and drawings of animals from every angle. Momo tells me that she finds something beautiful and charming in something that people may think it’s awfull and not nice at all. I think I know what she means. Beauty changes it’s shape and form or even the meaning when you see it from a different point of view. Talking to Momo, I was drawn in to her little twisted fantasy world, and a hanging little mouse necklace lives around my neck since the day I met Momo.

So we are half way through the London fashion week. The first show we went to see was Jena Theo, I was backstage dressing and changing the models and it was pretty manic. The clothes were amazing, it seems simple but when you take a closer look at the details, the patterns are pretty complicated. The fabrics were all in muted colours, black, grey and khaki, in jersey and leather etc… being backstage I have to say I really wanted to salute the models, patient, confident and beautiful.
